What A 10205 does, verified February 20, 2026

The bill aims to provide cost-of-living adjustments to certain disability benefits in New York. Employees with permanent total disabilities or their beneficiaries will be entitled to an additional allowance, known as a cost-of-living adjustment allowance, payable annually. The allowance will be computed based on a 50% adjustment of the annual increase in the consumer price index as promulgated by the US Department of Labor. This adjustment will help keep pace with inflation and ensure that disability benefits keep up with the rising cost of living. The changes will take effect on the first of July next succeeding the date the bill becomes a law.
