A 106: Relates to increasing the standards of monthly need and home energy grant amounts for persons in receipt of public assistance.
The bill aims to increase the standards of monthly need for determining eligibility for public assistance in New York State. The standard of monthly need will be adjusted annually based on the current cost of living adjustments as determined by the federal Social Security Administration. The bill also updates the home energy grant amounts for eligible individuals and families. For the period beginning July 1, 2025, the home energy grant amounts will be higher, with additional amounts added for each additional needy person in the household. The bill ensures that individuals and families receive maximum monthly grants and allowances in all social services districts, regardless of their available income or resources.
