A 11321: Removes residency requirements for Washington county deputy county attorneys, provided that they live in Washington county or an adjoining county within the state of New York.

This bill amends the Public Officers Law to modify residency requirements specifically for the office of deputy county attorney in Washington County. Currently, the law generally requires public officers to reside within the political subdivision or municipality where they serve. This legislation creates an exception for Washington County deputy county attorneys, allowing them to hold office if they reside in Washington County or any adjoining county within New York State, rather than strictly within Washington County itself. The bill maintains that deputy county attorneys in all other counties must continue to meet the standard residency requirements unless other laws apply. The act is set to take effect immediately upon introduction.
