A 1155: Prevents fees from being charged for the issuance of license plates where the vehicle has legible plates.
What A 1155 does, verified January 11, 2026
The bill aims to exempt certain license plates from a registration fee. It allows for the issuance of new reflectorized number plates without a fee if the following conditions are met: the vehicle previously had reflectorized plates, the old plates are still legible, and the new plates are being issued to the same registered owner and vehicle as the old plates. However, if the vehicle owner requests new number plates, they will be required to pay the registration fee.
