  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 1286 2025-2026 Regular Sessions  IN ASSEMBLY January 9, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. RAJKUMAR -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to permitting persons who have filed for asylum to work in New York state The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The labor law is amended by adding a new section 22 to read 2 as follows: 3 § 22. Employment of asylum seekers. The commissioner is authorized and 4 directed to promulgate rules and regulations to permit a person who has 5 applied for asylum pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 6 U.S.C. 1158) to be eligible to work in New York state. 7 § 2.
