What A 1360 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law aims to protect healthcare providers from sudden contract terminations. If a contract between a healthcare provider and a health plan is not renewed or terminated, the parties must continue to abide by the terms of the contract for 120 days after the termination date. The plan must provide notice to affected enrollees within 15 days of the start of the 120-day period. The commissioner has the authority to waive the 120-day period if a contract is being terminated for cause. However, if both parties agree in writing to the termination, the plan must provide notice to the enrollee at least 30 days in advance. The law will take effect immediately, but the changes will be repealed along with the old subdivision.
