STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 143 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY (Prefiled) January 8, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. EICHENSTEIN, JACOBSON, ROZIC -- read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to limiting the naming of municipalities and subdivisions thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The general municipal law is amended by adding a new 2 section 73-a to read as follows: 3 § 73-a. Naming of municipalities; limitations. No municipal corpo- 4 ration, or any subdivision thereof, shall have a name containing the 5 word swastika and any municipal corporation, or any subdivision thereof, 6 which has a name containing the word swastika in it shall, by an act of 7 its governing body, change such name as to remove the word swastika. 8 § 2.
