A 1444: Provides that the entire parcel of land shall be eligible for an agricultural assessment when at least 85% of a single parcel of land is used for agricultural production.
The proposed law aims to expand the eligibility for agricultural assessments in New York State. Currently, to be eligible for an agricultural assessment, at least 85% of a parcel of land must be used for agricultural production. The new law would allow for a single parcel of land to be eligible for an agricultural assessment if at least 85% of it is used for agricultural production, regardless of whether the remaining portion is used for agriculture. The owner of the land must file an application to be eligible for the assessment. The changes would take effect immediately.
