What A 1700 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to clarify the definition of a day student for employment purposes. It states that a day student is not considered to be in employment if they are actually in regular attendance at a school during the day time as a student in an elementary or secondary school. This means that students who attend school during the day and work part-time during regular vacation periods are not considered employed. The bill takes effect immediately.
