What A 172 does, verified April 9, 2026

The state of New York is required to conduct a study on the wages earned by aides to the developmentally disabled. The study must include information on hourly wage, approximate yearly salary, highest level of education, certifications, experience, and geographic location. The report must be published by December 31, 2025, to the governor, legislature, and relevant committee chairs. The governor and legislature will then determine and publish a base wage for aides by March 31, 2026, using reimbursements from Medicaid and other funds. The base wage will fund the compensation for aides to the developmentally disabled.
