What A 1800 does, verified April 30, 2026

The bill aims to protect older adults from unfair insurance practices. It prohibits insurance companies from refusing to issue or renew policies based solely on the age of the applicant or insured. Additionally, the bill prevents insurance companies from increasing premiums solely because the insured is 60 years of age or older for the renewal of an existing automobile insurance policy. These changes will take effect on January 1, 2026, and apply to renewals of policies issued after that date.
