What A 1812 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to limit the liability of licensed midwives who are also motor vehicle owners in cases where they are alleged to have committed traffic violations while responding to emergency medical situations. The law presumes that a midwife who is a motor vehicle owner is not liable for certain traffic violations if they can provide proof that they were responding to an emergency medical situation at the time of the alleged violation. The law applies to midwives who are using photo speed violation monitoring systems, traffic-control indicator systems, and bus lane photo devices. The law takes effect 180 days after it becomes a law, and allows for the immediate implementation of necessary rules and regulations for its effective date.
