What A 1958 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law aims to expand the authority of a hospice medical director to sign a death certificate. Currently, the law requires a physician or nurse practitioner to sign the death certificate, but the law proposes to allow the hospice medical director or a designated physician to do so instead. This change is intended to provide more flexibility and autonomy to hospice care providers. The law would take effect immediately.
