A 200: Increases the age of eligibility for provisional or permanent appointment of certain police officers from thirty-five to forty.
The bill proposes to increase the age of eligibility for provisional or permanent appointment of certain police officers from 35 to 40 years old. This change applies to police officers in various departments, including the department of environmental conservation and county, city, town, village, and housing authority police forces. The bill also allows for exceptions to the age requirement for certain police officers who have been continuously employed by a municipal housing authority and meet specific requirements. Additionally, the bill requires police officers to be high school graduates or holders of a comparable diploma, meet physical fitness requirements, and be of good moral character.
