What A 2068 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law provides excused leave to civil service employees who are members of a volunteer fire department or ambulance squad during a state of emergency. During a declared state of emergency, these employees can take a leave of absence from their duties or services without it being charged against any other leave they are entitled to. They must maintain a log of their volunteer hours and submit it to their employer. The leave is excused and does not affect the employee's other leave entitlement. The law takes effect on the first day of the next year after it becomes a law.
