What A 2112 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law allows any qualified person who is not registered to vote to register and cast their ballot at a polling place. This can be done on the day of any primary, general, or special election, or during early voting hours. To register, the person must provide acceptable identification containing proof of residence. If proof of residence cannot be provided, the person can register by affidavit ballot, but their vote will not be counted until their eligibility is verified. The board of elections will establish a procedure for those who register through this process to cast their vote at the polling place. The law will take effect one year after it becomes law.
