What A 2124 does, verified July 2, 2025
The village board of trustees of East Syracuse is authorized to permit a non-resident to hold the office of village justice and/or associate justice, provided that the person resides in the town of Dewitt. This change allows for flexibility in staffing and does not require the person to be a resident of the village. The person holding the office must still reside in the town of Dewitt, and the person performing the functions in other villages must be a resident of that village. The changes take effect immediately.
