New York · Assembly · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified December 20, 2025

What A 2177 does, verified December 20, 2025

The bill aims to exempt emergency medical services from the limit on real property tax levies by local governments in years when the normal contribution rate of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System increases by more than two percentage points. This means that local governments will be able to increase their tax levies to cover the costs of emergency medical services. The bill takes effect immediately.
