Assembly BillIntroduced
A 2335: Requires withholding the governor's salary until the legislative passage of the budget occurs.
What A 2335 does, verified January 8, 2026
The bill proposes to amend the state's executive law to require the governor's salary to be withheld and not paid until the legislative budget is complete. The governor's salary will be calculated as the net payment, which is the gross salary minus certain deductions such as federal and state taxes, social security taxes, and retirement contributions. The withheld amount will be paid to the governor as soon as the legislative budget is passed. The change aims to ensure that the governor's salary is paid only after the state's financial plan is in place.
