Assembly BillIntroduced
A 238: Relates to the meaning of the term "newspaper" for purposes of publishing certain notices required by law.
What A 238 does, verified January 10, 2026
The bill aims to update the definition of a "newspaper" in New York state law. The term "newspaper of a county, city, town, or village" now includes the newspaper's website as a valid publication method. This means that a notice required by law to be published in a newspaper can also be published on the newspaper's website, as long as it meets the required format and duration. The changes take effect immediately.
