What A 2488 does, verified January 8, 2026

The Rebuild Our Schools Act aims to provide aid to high-need school districts in New York State. The aid is payable in the school years 2025-2026 and thereafter, and it's specifically designed to address capacity shortages. The aid is computed using the high-need secondary supplemental building aid ratio, which is the lesser of two options: - The product of the building aid ratios computed under specific subclauses, multiplied by 10%, or - The positive remainder of 98.01% less the greater of the building aid ratios computed under specific subclauses. School building projects eligible for aid must address capacity shortages of at least 10% of the calculated capacity of the district or individual schools. The act takes effect immediately.
