What A 2499 does, verified May 20, 2026

This proposed amendment aims to establish a fixed annual salary for members of the legislature, which will be determined by law. Members will also be reimbursed for their actual traveling expenses while attending sessions. In addition, senators and certain assembly members may receive an extra per diem allowance for specific services. The amendment also prohibits changes to salaries during a member's term and ensures that any changes to the legislative law must be submitted to the people for approval at a general election. If approved, the increased salary will take effect immediately.
