The proposed legislation aims to designate certain state university campuses as early voting sites and polling sites. Campus polling places would be located at a location approved by the college or university, except where a polling place is already within one mile of the campus. State university campuses with an enrollment of at least 16,000 students and an on-campus dormitory would be required to have an early voting site. The requirements would not apply where an early voting site is already designated within one mile of the campus. The legislation would take effect immediately.

SAYEGH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to designating state and city university campuses as early voting sites and polling sites The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 4-104 of the election law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 5-b to read as follows: 3 5-b. Whenever a campus which is operated by the state university of 4 New York or the city university of New York and has an on campus dormi- 5 tory, a polling place designated for registrants on such campus shall be 6 at a location approved by such college or university. 7 § 2. The election law is amended by adding a new section 8-606 to read 8 as follows: 9 § 8-606. Early voting on state and city university campuses. Each 10 campus which is operated by the state university of New York or the city 11 university of New York and which has an on campus dormitory shall have 12 an early voting site on such campus. 13 § 3.
