A 2644: Provides that any school district may establish a reserve fund for the payment of unanticipated costs related to pupil transportation in excess of public funds apportioned to districts for such purposes.
The proposed legislation aims to establish a reserve fund for unanticipated costs related to pupil transportation in school districts. A school district can create such a fund with the approval of a majority of qualified voters, either through a regular or special meeting, or at an election called specifically for this purpose. The reserve fund can be used to cover costs in excess of public funds allocated for pupil transportation. Additionally, the legislation allows for the transfer of funds from one reserve fund to another, both within the education law and with municipal law. The changes take effect immediately.
