A 2686: Provides coverage for iatrogenic fertility preservation services when caused by a medical treatment.
The Fertility Protection Act aims to provide coverage for fertility preservation services that may cause iatrogenic infertility. Iatrogenic infertility refers to an impairment of fertility caused by medical treatments such as surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. The law will amend the Social Services Law to include these services as standard fertility preservation options. This will ensure that individuals who undergo these treatments have access to fertility preservation services, protecting their reproductive health. The law will take effect immediately.
