The proposed law aims to prohibit street takeovers and sideshows in New York State. These events typically involve reckless driving, stunts, and contests of speed, and can pose a risk to public safety. The law would make it illegal to hold or participate in such events on a highway, and violators could face imprisonment, fines, or both. The law would take effect 30 days after it becomes a law.
