A 3143: Changes the date of designation for election inspectors and poll clerks to January first.
The proposed legislation aims to amend the election law in New York. The key changes include: The board of elections in each county is required to select and appoint election inspectors and poll clerks for each election district by January 1st of each year. The term of these designations will end on December 31st of the same year. In addition, the board of elections must also select inspectors and poll clerks for village elections, which may be concurrent with general elections. Political parties are required to submit a list of recommended candidates for election inspector positions by May 15th. The board of elections will then select and designate candidates from these lists, with the option to make supplemental designations at any time. The changes will take effect immediately.
