A 3357: Relates to changes of membership eligibility in a New York state retirement system.
The bill aims to make changes to the New York State Retirement System, allowing employees to initiate or undergo changes in title or employment responsibilities while remaining in their current employer. To effectuate these changes, both the employee and their employer must sign a written statement acknowledging and understanding the change in eligibility for membership or service credit. The written statement must be filed with the relevant authority within 30 days of signature, and the changes will take effect on the 60th day after the bill becomes law. This allows employees to transition to new roles or responsibilities without affecting their retirement benefits, as long as they meet the necessary eligibility requirements.
