A 344: Relates to lottery aid formulas for school districts.
The proposed law aims to provide additional lottery grants to eligible school districts. The amount of the grant is calculated by multiplying the district's total aidable foundation pupil units by four factors: base grant, regional cost index, pupil need index, and aid ratio. The base grant is the sum of the net total available moneys after making certain payments, plus an amount from the general support for public schools fund. The regional cost index and pupil need index are defined in existing education law. The aid ratio cannot exceed one or be less than minus one. The law will take effect immediately.
