A 3624: Relates to liability for outside aid.

New York · Assembly · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified January 23, 2026

What A 3624 does, verified January 23, 2026

The proposed law aims to clarify the liability of municipalities providing outside aid, such as fire aid or police aid, to other municipalities. Municipalities requesting aid are liable and responsible for any loss or damage to the assisting municipality's apparatus or equipment, as well as the cost of operation and maintenance. However, this liability does not apply to apparatus, equipment, materials, and supplies owned or supplied by the state. The law takes effect immediately, with the goal of providing clarity and consistency in the provision of outside aid among municipalities.
