Assembly BillIntroduced
A 3827: Removes residency requirements for Jefferson county assistant district attorneys.
What A 3827 does, verified January 8, 2026
The proposed law aims to amend the Public Officers Law to remove the residency requirement for Jefferson County Assistant District Attorneys. This change would allow individuals to hold the office without being a resident of the county, but with some exceptions. The law would not apply to the First Assistant District Attorney or Chief Assistant District Attorney positions, as they would assume the duties of the district attorney in such cases. The changes would take effect immediately.
