A 3840: Repeals certain provisions establishing a fee for background checks on certain firearm and ammunition purchases; removes such fees as a source of funds for the background check fund.
The bill aims to repeal certain provisions of the Executive Law establishing a fee for background checks on firearm and ammunition purchases. It also amends the State Finance Law to define the source of funds for the background check fund. The fund will consist of revenues received by the Comptroller from various sources, including moneys appropriated thereto from other funds or sources. Any unexpended and unencumbered moneys remaining in the fund at the end of a fiscal year will remain in the fund and may be used to reduce the fee for background checks.
