A 4019: Allows attendance at individualized education program (IEP) meetings to be covered under paid family leave.
The proposed law aims to provide employees with additional protections under the workers' compensation law. It expands the definition of "family leave" to include situations such as caring for a family member with a serious health condition, bonding with a new child, and supporting a family member on active duty in the military. This leave can be taken without fear of job loss or penalty, and employees are entitled to up to three hours of paid time off for individualized education program (IEP) meetings. The law takes effect immediately, providing employees with greater security and support in these situations.
