What A 4147 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to improve the use of photo speed violation monitoring systems in school zones. To ensure the systems are functioning correctly, they must pass a self-test on the day of use and undergo an annual calibration check. Additionally, signs must be installed to provide written notice to approaching motor vehicle operators that a photo speed violation monitoring system is in use. These signs must be primarily yellow, indicate the presence of a school speed zone, and be placed within 50 feet of the system. The bill takes effect 60 days after it becomes law.
