A 4279: Prohibits mobile sports wagering operators and platforms from sending push notifications or text message notifications.
The "Regulating Addictive Notifications Act" aims to address public health concerns related to gambling addiction in New York. This legislation prevents mobile sports betting operators and platforms from sending push notifications or text message notifications to solicit wagers and deposits. The goal is to mitigate the risk of risky betting behavior, problem gambling, and addiction, particularly among young people and vulnerable populations. The law will prohibit mobile sports wagering operators and platforms from initiating or sending push notifications or text message notifications related to sports wagers or deposits, even when the user interface for the platform is not actively open or visible.
