What A 435 does, verified July 2, 2025

The proposed bill aims to amend the Arts and Cultural Affairs Law to ensure the Council on the Arts has members from each of the state's ten regions. The council is allowed to retain its powers despite vacancies, but new appointments must be made within a reasonable time frame to move the composition closer to the requirement of representation from each region. The changes will take effect on the same date as a previously enacted law that introduced the region-based requirement.
