What A 4388 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to prohibit the use of remote or virtual learning as a form of punishment or disciplinary action in schools. This means that schools cannot require students to attend classes via remote learning as a penalty for misbehaving. However, schools can use remote learning as a disciplinary measure if a student fails to follow health and safety protocols developed by state and local governments, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Any such discipline must be included in the school's code of conduct and posted on the school's website. The bill takes effect immediately.
