What A 4390 does, verified July 2, 2025

The proposed law aims to extend limitations on the shift between classes of taxable property in the town of Orangetown, county of Rockland. This law allows for a one percent increase in the current base proportion of any class, rather than exceeding the adjusted base proportion or adjusted proportion of the previous year by more than one percent. The increase is limited to prevent excessive shifts in the assessment rolls. The law requires the approval of a local law, ordinance, or resolution before implementing the change. The total sum of current base proportions must be adjusted to equal one. The law takes effect immediately.
