What A 4489 does, verified January 11, 2026

The proposed law aims to improve accessibility in state parks by requiring certain playground equipment for children with disabilities. The law would require all state parks with a playground to include one swing set that is accessible to children with disabilities. The accessible swing set must have a wheelchair-accessible platform swing and a high-backed, full-support seat. The term "disability" would be defined as per the Executive Law, and the equipment should be incorporated into the existing or proposed playground layout. The law would take effect on December 31, 2027.
