STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4521 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 4, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. HYNDMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to the definition of "protected consumer" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision (o) of section 380-a of the general business 2 law, as added by chapter 441 of the laws of 2014, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 (o) The term "protected consumer" means an individual who is under the 5 age of [sixteen] eighteen years at the time a request for the placement 6 of a security freeze is made. 7 § 2.
