A 4684: Authorizes school districts to enter into a lease outside of such school district when it is demonstrated to the satisfaction of the commissioner of education that extenuating circumstances exist which necessitate a lease outside of the school district.
The bill aims to expand the authority of school districts to enter into leases outside their boundaries. It allows school districts to lease school buildings or facilities from other districts or private entities within a reasonable distance, subject to certain conditions. The bill also enables school districts to lease space from private entities when extenuating circumstances necessitate it, such as overcrowding or damage to facilities. The use of such leased space must be approved annually by the state commissioner. The changes take effect immediately.
