What A 4729 does, verified September 10, 2025

The bill proposes to amend the Volunteer Firefighters' Benefit Law to create a presumption for parkinson's disease in volunteer firefighters. This presumption states that if a volunteer firefighter passes a physical examination and the disease is not revealed, it is presumptive evidence that the disability or death was caused by an accident, not the firefighter's own negligence, and occurred while performing duty. The presumption would only be rebutted by competent evidence. The changes would take effect immediately and expire on June 30, 2030.
