A 5092: Requires the department of criminal justice services to monitor desk appearance tickets and report on the rate which principals appear in court on such tickets.
The state of New York is introducing a bill to require the Department of Criminal Justice Services to monitor desk appearance tickets and report on the rate at which principals appear in court on such tickets. The commissioner will annually submit a report to the governor and the legislature, detailing the number of desk appearance tickets issued, the number of principals who did not appear in court after being issued a ticket, and the ratio of tickets issued to principals who did not appear in court. This report will be both statewide and disaggregated by county, providing a clear picture of the issue.
