What A 5124 does, verified January 9, 2026
The bill aims to restrict certain entities that operate the Long Island Power Authority from lobbying and to require Long Island Power Authority employees to be residents of the authority's service area. The proposed law would add a new subdivision to the Legislative Law, prohibiting lobbying or advertising from entities contracted to operate the authority. Additionally, it would amend the Public Authorities Law to require the authority to only employ residents of the service area, and for contracted entities to do the same. The law would take effect one year after it becomes a law.
