What A 523 does, verified January 16, 2026

The proposed law aims to create an online database that lists all drugs currently in shortage in the state and their availability at pharmacies. The database will be accessible only to licensed physicians and pharmacists, who will be authorized to update the inventory levels of these drugs. Pharmacies must update their inventory levels of these drugs at least weekly. The law also gives the department the authority to promulgate rules and regulations to implement the database. The database will only include drugs designated as currently in shortage by the federal government.
