Assembly BillIntroduced
A 5300: Relates to the manner in which certain provisions of the correction law are enforced.
What A 5300 does, verified January 13, 2026
The proposed law aims to clarify the enforcement of certain provisions related to correction law. The law would allow enforcement proceedings to be brought through different channels depending on the type of agency or employer. For actions by public agencies, the proceedings would be handled through the civil court system. For actions by private employers, the enforcement would be handled by the Division of Human Rights and the New York City Commission on Human Rights. This law would not limit the right of individuals to pursue other available legal remedies. The law would take effect on the ninetieth day after it becomes a law.
