What A 537 does, verified May 6, 2026

The proposed legislation requires that bills introduced in the Assembly must be co-sponsored by at least 76 members to be brought to the floor for a vote during the legislative session in which it was introduced. In contrast, bills introduced in the Senate must be co-sponsored by at least 32 members to meet this requirement. The proposed law aims to increase transparency and accountability in the legislative process by making it more difficult for bills to pass without significant support from lawmakers.
