A 5409: Requires local social services districts distribute shelter information specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming persons on the district's website and as pamphlets at intake shelters.
The bill requires local social services districts to provide information on shelter options specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals. This information must be included on their shelter webpage and as a pamphlet provided to intake shelters. The information should specify where individuals can go if they are looking for shelter and whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming shelter beds are available in their municipality. If no such beds are available, the agency must list nearby non-profit or other shelter options for these individuals. This requirement aims to ensure that these individuals have access to relevant and supportive shelter options.
