A 5535: Authorizes vocational training, where practicable, to incarcerated individuals on the installation of solar hot water systems for the provision of hot water to correctional facilities.
The proposed legislation aims to provide incarcerated individuals with improved living conditions by ensuring they have access to hot water. Currently, correctional facilities are not required to provide hot water to cells, rooms, and dormitories. This bill seeks to amend the law to require that all correctional facilities have hot water available, either through individual cells or dormitories. In addition, the bill aims to provide vocational training to incarcerated individuals, allowing them to install solar hot water systems in the facilities. The training would enable inmates to gain practical skills and contribute to the maintenance of the facilities. The bill would take effect on the 180th day after its enactment.
