A 5633: Removes residential dwelling units that must be affordable to residents at a specific income level from the definition of "construction contracts" for the purposes of certain provisions of the General Business Law.
The bill aims to update the definition of construction contracts in the General Business Law. It expands the scope of construction contracts to include projects with an aggregate cost of over $150,000. The bill excludes contracts made by the state, public departments, and certain municipalities for public works projects. It also excludes contracts for residential projects with a limited number of units, such as one to three family dwellings or residential tracts with 100 or fewer units. Additionally, the bill updates the definition of affordable housing units, requiring that at least 25% of the units be affordable to residents at a specific income level. The changes take effect immediately.
